Monday's Nature Quote
Among the scenes which are deeply impressed on my mind, none exceed in sublimity the primeval forests undefaced by the hand of man. No one can stand in these solitudes unmoved, and not feel that there is more in man than the mere breath of his body.
~ Charles Darwin
What is this urge to put the first footprint in the snow? What's wrong with appreciating nature on the trodden path and in the city?
ReplyDeleteYup, that can be done too...but that seems like a fast food to me, when what I'm craving is the full, opulent banquet of the woods.
DeleteSince I'm never going to see that I just pretend no man has gone before me.
ReplyDeleteWell, now that you mention it, I guess you're right, Bob!
DeleteFor myself, I have to admit I'd rather show up after someone who has kindly built a trail to be followed. But! That doesn't diminish the beauty or calming connection I feel.
