It's the outdoor plumbing that does me in. When you wake in the middle of the night, and things run over your feet on the way to the privy, and the spiders in the privy look giganto in the flashlight, and there are never any hot baths . . . it's flat out unacceptable.
Reminds me that I haven't camped in a tent in a very long time. Never could get a good night's sleep on the hard ground. I bet camping gear has improved... or not!
Use to go camping every month, a long time ago, there was always trick gear to be had. My inflatable canvas mattress took up no space, always made for a good nights rest.
Slept out under the stars this weekend. I could tell I'd been in urbanville for too long because it was soooooo quiet that I was wishing for some white noise just to get to sleep.
It's fun being in the womb of your tent until a forester comes by and asks you if you have food inside-a no-no in the Olympics. Bears might pay a visit. I agree with Roxie that tipping through the flora at night has its drawbacks, especially if there is no privy near, just night noises and darknesses.
